If you’re considering fostering a cat or kitten from East Lancashire Cats the first thing we want to say is, THANK YOU! Our dedicated team will take you through the application process and explain about things you will have to consider for yourself, home environment and other family members before taking in one of our foster cats.
Fostering a cat has so many benefits:
It helps increase animal adoption – every cat we can find a foster home for frees space up for healthy cats who can be fostered straight away, it reduces stress on them and can let our teams focus on the sicker cats who may need more attention and medical care.
Fostered cats stand a greater chance of being able to adapt to a new home environment.
Fostering help with a cats' rehabilitation. It teaches them how to deal with people, other animals, stress, and emotional and physical reactions to different environments.
Be one of volunteers who can help with trapping domestic cats, some animals may need medical attention, while others are simply lost or have become feral. Our aim is simply to see if the cats are physically well and to see if they are microchipped and have a home.
Our volunteers can show you the process of using the traps, which are totally humane and safe, for many strays. Our foster homes are a welcome sight of food and a warm bed, especially for the cats who are in need of medical care and attention.
By using traps our team can focus on those animals who need urgent care, get cats who have simply been lost home, and for others focus on being rehomed to loving family’s and the chance of a forever home.
Be a designated volunteer driver to help take one of our rescue’s cats for appointments with a local vet. Some of our rescue cats need a lot of medical care and sometimes surgery, all our cats are vaccinated and neutered as standard.
By offering some voluntary time to help with these vet appointments, it frees our team to help rescue more cats, and also look after those who are returning back after surgery or those that may need more physical and emotional attention.
There are lots of ways that you can volunteer for East Lancashire Cats – whether you want for example to get outdoors and help with work to be done, from fostering one of our cats until they are ready to be rehomed, work with our teams, assist in the shop or help out with trips to the local vets so our rescue cats can get the correct medical attention they need.
However you choose to help us you will receive a warm welcome from our staff and other volunteers who will all be keen to make you feel part of our team.
